Eco-friendliness is more than a trend, it’s a way of life. Efforts are being made to conserve natural resources and it’s apparent in the way we live, the things we eat and even our fashion choices.
One brand that is recognized for incorporating eco-friendliness into their designs is Original Grain. The company has outdone themselves once again with a new watch collection made from New Belgium Brewing beer barrels. Read on to find out more about these fashionable and sustainable accessories.
The Original Grain company is a well-known manufacturer of wood and steel watches. They are known for their high quality craftmanship, unique sense of style and commitment to sustainable fashion.
Recently they have teamed up with the New Belgium Brewing company, an independent craft brewery that has established itself as a leader in sustainability and social responsibility. The result of the collaboration is the Wood Cellar Reserve Collection which features watches made with reclaimed wood foeder barrels that had been used to age New Belgium’s craft beer.
The barrels are used for up to 50 years before they are retired making access to the barrels extremely rare. As a result, the watches and being produced on a limited basis with only 500 currently available. They are being sold for $595.

The watches feature a stylish black face design, New Belgium branding and Japanese Quartz chronograph movement. In keeping in line with the brand’s eco-friendly attitude, each watch has a package that can be repurposed to be used as a four bottle beer carrier.
The two companies see the collaboration as one that feels natural and makes perfect sense as both brands are committed to supporting the global community. In addition to using sustainable practices in their manufacturing, they also support non profit organizations that give back to the planet.
Original Grain partners with Trees for the Future planting a tree for every watch they sell. New Belgium partners with One Percent for the Planet contributing at least one percent of their annual sales to environmental causes.
The founders at Original Grain are excited about the new collection. Co-founder Ryan Beltran states, “New Belgium’s reputation for not only producing world-class beers but our brands’ shared belief in sustainability, made the brewery the ideal partner for this collection.”
